What Is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage has quickly become one of my most popular treatments, but many women are still unsure what it involves and how it differs from other body treatments.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage, often shortened to MLD, uses very light, gentle and rhythmic movements to support the body’s lymphatic system. This system plays an important role in moving lymphatic fluid around the body.
It is not a treatment where firmer pressure means better results. The lymphatic vessels sit close to the surface of the skin, so the movements need to be light, slow and carefully performed.
Why do women choose Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
Women book Manual Lymphatic Drainage for many different reasons. Some are experiencing puffiness, fluid retention, bloating or a feeling of heaviness. Others simply want a gentle treatment that helps them feel relaxed and cared for.
It can also be a good choice for women who prefer a lighter touch or do not enjoy deeper body treatments.
Every appointment begins with a consultation so I can understand what you are hoping to gain from the treatment and check that it is suitable for you.
What does the treatment feel like?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is slow, calm and deeply relaxing. Some women are surprised by how light the movements feel, but this gentleness is an important part of the treatment.
Every woman’s experience is different, but clients often describe feeling lighter and more relaxed afterwards.
I offer both 60 and 90-minute Manual Lymphatic Drainage treatments at A Blissful Balance in Wellesbourne.
